For the first time since my Allcocks The Sapper Roach was returned to me by my chosen restorer (thank you Wal, Sir) I was able to grab a couple of hours this afternoon to christen her. Though loosing two animals when 2lb. and 3lb. hook links gave up the ghost (well ... it is All Hallows Eve !!!), this quickly grabbed action shot before the line gave way shows that a rod of at least 75 years of age can still cut the mustard. Not only that ... but she then returned a new cane caught PB perch for me at 1 pound 13.6 ounces (0.83915kg). Considering that this rod was not built after 1939 ... its a remarkable testament to the original designer and builders ... and also to the restorer. My hat is off to all of them.
