For the first time tonight in months I tried my hand at doing deadlifts. Im certain my back is up to it now. Didnt try anything crazy, just 110 pounds for 10 smooth and easy reps. I couldve clean and jerked it over my head easy-peezy, but far better to underwhelm my vertebrae and connective tissues than overwhelm them. I doubt Ill be lifting anything much heavier than that for a while. Having not lifted in so long, my body has to readjust and adapt itself to lifting weights once again. The barbell is truly one of mankinds greatest of inventions. And not a device of torture as is commonly believed. But Im quite pleased with how my back handled itself tonight. A good start to good things to come. And a strong back (and abs) is the best prevention for back pain (so long as its not sciatic in nature!)
