For the first time took the Honda CBR 250 on a longer ride (ie. > 60 kms). A ride to Koyna Lake, Humbarli, Maharashtra. So far Ive been driving it largely around town, and was wondering how it would shape up on a longer ride. The ride was spread over two days, and traversed the Tamhini and Kumbharli ghats, NH 17 and NH 4. Also the weather on the first day was largely moist with the latter third of the ride being done under very heavy rains. It has a huge fun quotient. It is a wonderfully agile bike, with very good suspensions and offers a good pickup and a smooth ride. It handles nicely, and cornering in general is quite easy. Definitely a good option if you are looking for a bike for longer rides but do not want to invest in a 400+cc class bikes. Some (relatively) minor grumbles though. It is designed with a slightly aggressive position (like in racing, where the driver leans in forward just a little bit rather than being upright). This can put some pressure on the back and the bottom of your palms (which rest on the handle) which can be inconvenient on very long rides.. Perhaps the handle could just be raised a bit upwards towards a more upright position. While the handling is wonderful under dry weather and roads, the stock tyres leave you a bit tentative under very wet weather. Perhaps one could explore a different set of tyres for the monsoon months (or like one of my friends did, his tyres were modified to lengthen the grooves, and etch a few more very thin grooves). Finally on long straight highways you could feel the need for a little bit more speed, but for a 250cc, what the CBR delivers is more than appropriate for the class.
