For the footworkers of the first generation, Ghosts, at the beginning, meant floating over the dancefloor, Micheal Jacksons moonwalk, cosmic fluency breaking the statically performed basic steps (basics) in dancing. Ghosts are deeply ingrained in the history of footwork culture and are a part of its foundations. Ghosts Traxx is also trying to be a foundation. In the history of Polish, club-scene oriented, electronic music there isnt any compilation featuring Poland-based producers inspired by juke sound and footwork from Chicago. While the popularity of the styles is on the increase, we wondered whether the same would hold for Poland. The answer to this is the first part of Ghosts Traxx compilation comprising eighteen tracks by eighteen producers. Every track is an individual attempt to confront juke and footwork. Eighteen possible interpretations emerging at the intersections of many traditions filtered by modernity. Hence there are tracks with their starting point as a fusion of spaciousness and dynamics (Fidser, Jakett, Miko). Some share technoidal and progressive tint (Benncart, Lux Familiar). There are also tracks which perfectly fit an experiment of weirdness (CO, Rhythm Baboon). The narration tempo relaxes thanks to cozily sounding tracks of Spisek Jednego, Symbiotic Sounds, xtnt or Naphta, and the cosmic odyssey of Richard Murder or synteticly broken Dubsknit refer to futurism. Though the Spirit (The Holy Ghost) of the Windy City is constantly running through the compilation, one can hear in its music a clear, autonomous, brave, and surprising at times, voice of the Polish producers. Ghosts Traxx is a collection of beginnings pointing to new directions, which havent yet happened, but are about to begin.
