For the last six years or so of my life, I have never, ever, EVER posted, commented, or liked anything on here to stir up controversy (you can check my history). I’m a peacemaker by nature. I don’t post political things, or even spiritual things that I think might even have the slightest chance of bringing out the worst in people. It’s not who I am or what I do. And what Im about to write isnt meant to either. But after two weeks of what I can only describe as the messiest, most controversial, most oversharingest, most opinionated, most “I-wish-this-was-ten-years-ago-so-that-I-would-have-never-known-what-you-felt-about-everything” two weeks of the social media era, I pray and I plead with you, and I truly am praying this, that everybody will listen—not to Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr or your favorite blogger, not to the opinions of people that you think are cool, not to PhDs—but to the Voice of God. How messed up are we that rather than opening up the Word of God to allow Him to speak, we turn to read what everybody else has to say about It, and wait for them to tell us what to do with It—a commentary, a blog, a book, a preacher, etc. Stop reading the comments section. Stop watching videos. Close your laptop. Put down your phone. Go someplace quiet. Pray. Get out your Bible. And humbly listen. Lord, help us, and have mercy on us all.
