For the last three months I have been working a mind numbing job - TopicsExpress

For the last three months I have been working a mind numbing job for nearly 70 hours a week. I lost track of friends and family, works in progress, as well as forgotten who I was. Exhausted, with an increasing depression weighing heavily, I banished all creativity, with no time or energy to explore new mediums of art. But, with new opportunities on the horizon, I chose to leave that job yesterday. Woke up to my Hank Mobley CD that I had received as a gift, yet didnt have time to listen to. I quit the job, then delved into a perfect, rejuvenating day. Visited the art institute with my Mom and sister, where I was able to see the Rene Margritte exhibit, as well as visit a painting I hold dear (Balthus Solitaire). I then purchased the only Kafka novel I didnt own, as well as Alan Shapiros new collection of poetry. I felt like I smiled for the first time in months. Capped off the day by watching two of my favorite directors most recent films. Richard Ayoades The Double and Kelly Reichardts Night Moves. Im thankful.
