For the last two weeks, Pastor Stan has been teaching on Revelation. He made the comment, I believe both last Sunday, that right in the first verse, of the first chapter, John says that it is a Revelation about Jesus, but people have made it about sea monsters, and other things, trying to bring physical characteristics into a book that is about prophetic and spiritual things. When he said that, I was thinking, that usually even when were are talking about the book, we say Revelations with an s making it plural, like it is about several different things. But, the book is called Revelation, in all of the translations I have. Another thing I really liked was when he said, and this is paraphrased, That Jesus is no longer on the cross, and since He isnt there, why are all believers huddled around it? LOL! Man, thats good stuff! Ive always said that the reason we see so many crucifixes in churches, is because most of the body can relate to Jesus on the cross, and His suffering, so it gives them a better feeling of holiness, or a distorted view of being more like Jesus when they are suffering too. I think its cool, when you read about Mary going to the tomb of Jesus, in John 20, she finds the stone rolled back and the tomb empty, and runs out finding Peter and the other disciples. She tells them what is going on, and asks where they have taken Jesuss body, and Peter and the others run down to the cemetary. Again, Im thinking Pete is a rotund individual, because he gets out ran, when Jesus wants to get his attention later, on the road, he does it with food, and in Acts we see him lying on the roof of the tanners house, dreaming bout food! LOL! But, after the disciples leave, Mary talks with the two angels, and then Jesus. But, the script says she didnt recognize him, she thought he was the gardener. Now, we have learned how prophetic it was, Jesus being a gardener, the gate, that reconciled us back to the garden. I think it is also interesting, that there are kinda two different things going on here. You have the tombs, which signify death, and even though it may translate, or imply grounds keeper the script in my Bible says gardener. The word gardener can be chased, and implied innumerously from Genesis 1, to Mark 4, on and on, and on. But, I also think it implies life. I believe Mary had a choice, that day. She could have ignored the gardener, and stayed in a place of death, possibly living among the tombs like the man with the devils in Gadarenes, a place that Jesus was not, nor ever going to be again, or she could receive the words of the gardener, words of life, and life more abundantly. When she received that word of life, it took her out of the place of death, and launched her into her ministry. Marys decision to get out of a place of death, put her in the place to reveal Jesus to the disciples.
