For the last two weeks, our Comcast router has been acting up. Comcast cant seem to fix the problem--again. So internet access is unreliable and spotty; and I am rarely online. Last time [Feb-March] it took them 6 weeks to fix the problem. Their modems, I discovered after some research, suffer from severe manufacturing QA problems. The Arris is a total piece of crap--the last tech confirmed this--the new Motorola gateway is even worse (designed for single-band public Hotspot ) and the Technicolor is only slightly better. Those are the only choices if you want to use the services in their full subscription package. The regular techs who show up are untrained in customer service with no technical knowledge, and you have to request a supervisor/trainer-tech for on-site diagnosis to get anything accomplished on-site; but they cant overcome the manufacturing defects. thechive/2014/08/26/move-over-satan-comcast-is-here-12-photos/
