For the life of me I cannot understand why ECCL would jeopardize Esteros incorporation over the issue of the future mayors election by the people; a clearly democratic principle that is inviolable in being upheld? What motivations, hidden or otherwise, are at play here? Nick Batos and John Goodrich should immediately back off this stand and get off something that simply cannot be ignored as necessary to be done. To leave the mayor appointed by a popular fraternal vote of newly elected council members that are untested is no way of getting this new city off and running in the right directions. It defies all logic and places ECCL in the unenviable position of being seriously questioned for persisting in this ill-advised decision. It never should have happened in the first place. If Estero is to become a city...and it should...then do it right whereby every citizen has the right to vote for such a key position. To defy open democratic standards is both illogical and wrong!
