For the love of everything people, stop breaking logic!!! Dislike emergent/emerging/progressive Christianity, but stop creating arguments trying to tear it down based on logical fallacies. You want to gossip about alleged personal lives of its leaders whom you already disliked/were jealous of and were chomping at the bit for a chance to smear - go ahead and show how petty you really are. But declaring a leaderless movement and its questions, theology, and explorations false because of some of its participants is pure ad hominem. Engage the discussion, critique the ideas, but please stop abandoning reason. You can do better than that. Also the whole, emergent is full of the cool/trendy kids who are different from me so therefore it is stupid or the I had a bad experience at this one thing/they wouldnt sell/promote my book/music/blog so therefore they are elitist snobs who are wrong or the I havent heard much from Emergent Village lately so therefore the entire conversation and progressive christian movement is over arguments are also based on poor logic. Yeah, dont like them but be honest about why and dont negate the entire conversation and its participants based on faulty reasoning. This has seriously been bugging me for a while now and I keep seeing all these people either arguing with people whose entire claim is based on a logical fallacy or applauding them for proving why something they already hated was bad all along. It just hurts to see such poor discourse. Okay, rant over.
