For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, and those who are in the flesh cannot please God. – Romans 8:6-8 The lost person lives in the flesh – for the flesh. His mind is set on the things of the flesh. However, believers have the Spirit of God within them who enables them to set their mind on Spiritual things. Believers are to look at life from a whole new perspective – a heavenly perspective. We should be looking at life in a whole new way once we are saved. The lost are physically alive but “dead” to God and don’t respond to things of the Spirit. They may be moral and even religious but without the Spirit they are unable to behave righteously. They rebel against God and won’t submit to His Law. Those who have trusted God have peace. The lost live to please themselves while those who are in Christ live to please God!
