For the past 3 and a half years, I have shared my apartment with the quietest and most persistent of roommates. Little red ants. We wage casual battle. They swarm my sweet sugary things, and use the water tank of my Tassimo as a swimming pool. I attempt to assert dominance by spraying them with chemical cleaners (only to have them bravely, if soggely, saunter on, the mutant bastards). Mostly, we co-exist silently. Mutualy ignoring each other until a sudden bout of lonely familiarity prevails, forcing us to make our presences know to the other once more. The slow, creeping crawl up a lap top screen or the sudden looming eyeball half an inch from their little exoskeleton. This week, to their delirious joy, I began a face wash regime that includes raw honey. Its been like Frosh week in my bathroom, and today I finally got irritated enough to spray them with the nearest item on hand. Spray on Sunscreen. They died instantly. Im not sure what that says about the contents of my sunscreen, that it succeeded where Lysol failed...
