For the past 3 weeks Ive been getting neupogen shots day and night that promote my stem cell growth. After daily hospital runs for blood checks my blood is now ready for stem cell collection starting tomorrow. It consists of a few sessions where Ill be hooked up to something that can be compared to a dialysis machine. It filters the blood and takes my stem cells and puts the blood back in me. The next step after collection is a giant dose of chemo that hopefully kills my immune system and then I rebuild my immune system with my own stem cells that are given to me while Im in the hospital. I will be mildly quarantined on a hospital floor so that I dont get sick and is dedicated to stem cell transplant patients. We are hoping for a month stay in the hospital with no complications. I can have visitors if Im not sick but I cant see Parker which is going to be tough on dad, but Ill be okay. Ive been beyond tired everyday, its really tough because I just feel worthless but its all part of the fun. Although my latest PET scan had great news and the mass under my arm is still dead there still is an area of concern on my sternum so Im not out of the woods yet, but I do have a good feeling that this will work and Ill go in to remission. I tried to keep my explanation simple but please ask any questions, Im never shy about my cancer fight! Love you guys. M
