For the past few months, Met Ed has received reports from companies and homeowners of a scam where individuals impersonating Met-Ed employees demand payment for a past-due bill over the phone. The individual threatens to shut off electric service if immediate payment with a cash card, such as a Green Dot card, is not received. Customers are advised that Met-Ed will never demand payment with a cash card for a past-due bill. If you believe you are being scammed, please report the incident to authorities.
