For the past five years, the busiest month for An Nisa Hope Center - TopicsExpress

For the past five years, the busiest month for An Nisa Hope Center has always been Ramadan, this year is no different. Our helpline has gotten double the calls, compare to other months. We have already had 9 families in crisis this month, with 3 of them needing a home to live. I have met many families this month, that are in urgent need of help, some are looking for food, some for financial assistance and some just need someone to talk to. Many of these needy families are struggling to survive. A mother with four kids, explained; when her kids are in school, they have two meals, but now that they are home, they can only afford one full meal a day. Meeting a elderly couple, who recently came from Pakistan was very emotional for us. With lots of tears, they explained, their children brought them to the US and told them they will have to struggle on their own. Can you imagine, they have not seen their daughter who lives 15 minutes away in almost a year? The husband does odd jobs to pay their rent, and the rest they have to ask for help. Last week, the MWLF did a food drive, filling 200 boxes of 22 items, including rice, flour, oil etc.. We personally delivered them to different locations and I could not believe the amount of Muslims, in urgent need of food. This past Sunday, the An Nisa Food Pantry volunteers did intake of 10 new families in urgent need of food. Many families came from the South just for some food items. We already have 11 new families on the list for next weeks intake. These are families that are not qualified for food stamps, and would eventually turn the the churches for assistance. For all of you who have helped us with our projects, for all of those who have donated and for all of you who volunteer with An Nisa, I just want to say JazakAllah ul khair for your kindness. May Allah(swt) reward you with Jannatul Firdous. Ameen.
