For the past several days my heart has been so heavy for the sweet family of Mark Hawkins. I keep seeing visions of his dear wife and beautiful daughter hearing the news of his passing. To know that his daughter will only have 9 years of memories of him saddens my heart. In addition to those memories, I hope one day she will know what a fun, young man he was. How he was responsible every Friday night for making sure the entire band stayed in step on and off the football field, the way he made bus rides, to and from away games, fun or how he had an eye for turning ordinary trucks and cars into masterpieces that made every man green with envy when he passed through town. I have not seen Mark in a while but he would never miss an opportunity to stop by a job site when he saw Carson to “shoot the breeze” and always leave with a good press of the pedal which made all our crews say, “who is driving that sweet ride?” Until our big reunion on the other side, rest in peace Mark – The Class of ’99.
