For the past three days the Wa Rumour Mill has been grinding out a rather disturbing rumour about an impending three-day power outage throughout the Upper West Region. According to sources( I hope we catch this creature soon), a radio presenter raised what has now turned out to be a false alarm. It is about time a law was enacted to specifically take care of those who cause FEAR and PANIC( apologies to our late president J. E. A Mills). If indeed a radio presenter started this rumour then he/ she must have done it based on hearsay, and that is very dangerous. The awesome power of the radio station as a medium of communication makes it imperative that those who sit behind the console to communicate with the listening public ought to be absolutely sure of the information at their disposal before they broadcast such info.
