For the past two days, KOLR 10 News has taken a closer look at the foster care and adoption in Greene County. We specifically looked at Greene County, because it has the highest rate of child abuse and neglect in the state of Missouri. Even higher than St. Louis and Kansas City. Greene County also has the highest population of homeless youth. Now, experts say they have found a direct correlation between the two. More than 70 percent are on the streets from being abused and neglected. Juvenile detention is on the rise and the jail is full. Its a never-ending vicious cycle. So, how do you break that cycle? Experts say you get kids in loving, safe homes. Right now, there is major need for foster families here in Southwest Missouri. They are currently in crisis mode in Greene County.
