For the second time, Ive been nominated for the Songwriters Hall of Fame in New York. The only other country writer in the non-performing category this year is Bob McDill. Vince Gill is nominated in the artist/.writer category. This is not to be confused with the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame into which all three of us were inducted many years ago. We are in competition with all those big pop writers. The few NashvillIians who have been inducted have more extensive pop catalogs than McDill and me, so we have to rely on heavy country music support in order to have a chance. I dont think there has ever been a better country songwriter than Bob McDill; maybe a few as good, but none better. Singer-writer-guitarist genius Vince Gill is so good at so many things, he deserves to be in any hall of fame that has anything to do with music.
