For those complaining about the lack of Orioles coverage on ESPN - TopicsExpress

For those complaining about the lack of Orioles coverage on ESPN and the media in general this has to be realized. Success doest force the media to talk about a team. Ask yourself the following about ESPN. How much, since 2010 have you heard about the San Francisco Giants? Since 2010 they have won two World Series and had a total record of 410-359 since 2010. When conversations arise about the NL or the NL West how often are they brought up? Do they ever talk of them or is it all about the Dodgers and Yasiel Puig? Also, remember when Tim Lincecum threw his no hitter this year? Did they do what they do with Kershaw and talk about how he is a legendarily good pitcher or put it in the context of historically great pitchers in relation to the franchise like they do with Kershaw? No, they didnt. As a matter of fact, the day after on Baseball Tonight they talked about how no hitters arent as impressive anymore because of how good pitching has been. Im not putting this here to get pity for the Giants. Rather, realize that the media has their favorites. They love New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Boston. Mostly because everyone else in the country hates them. No matter how good we do this year or any other year thats not going to change until our city gets as much of a national following as these cities. Since that probably wont happen people need to understand that if you want nonstop positive Orioles talk you are going to have to keep it local. Its just the way it is.
