For those handy-(wo)man types among my friends, please advise. Our washing machine has a very slow leak that I isolated to the hot water inlet valve on the back of the machine. Apparently, the plastic threads are stripped. My brain thinks in hacks, so I thought of getting one of those male\female valve adapter jobs, slapping some of that plastic epoxy sealant gunk on the stripped valve, and shoving the female end of the adapter over it--basically giving me a new male valve to screw the hose into. (Sorry about the lack of proper terminology in that paragraph). Am I ill-advised to try that? Can anyone think of a better way to deal with it short of replacing the entire valve assembly?
