For those interested in buying eyeglasses online. Ive been doing - TopicsExpress

For those interested in buying eyeglasses online. Ive been doing it for about five years and generally had 80% good luck. The prescriptions seem to be accurate - but even when I mess up the order, like ordering a focal point for computer use only, when I also need to drive with them on - the online shops always treat me better than the retail stores do. The only watch-out I suggest is.... ALL of the frames you buy in stores are made in China - even the expensive designer frames - but sometimes the cheapest frames online are poorly made... so buy quality at less than 1/4th the price of retail. With that said, even the cheap ones last two or three years, so for what little Im paying, I cant complain. I just put in my second order for glasses from Zenni...a new online retailer Im trying... and so far, Im impressed. I got my new prescription locally and bought two pair of glasses from Zenni about two weeks ago for a total of only $76. Yes, the cheapest round John Lennon style frames and bifocal progressive lenses, with coatings, and clip on sunglasses... for $38 each. The prescription seems to be fine, so I ordered two more pair - retro 1960s style - with old style lined bi-focals, for a total of $88. As with all glasses Ive bought online, I made a few twist and bend adjustments to the frames to get the PD for the progressive bifocals aligned with my pupils - just like they do when they fit you at the local retail eye glasses place - but other than that, these Zennis are as good as the others Ive purchased.
