For those interested in such a marginal thing, my first read for - TopicsExpress

For those interested in such a marginal thing, my first read for #2015 is the #Africa39 anthology. Got it at #Ake ? last year. The crossover read was Barnaby Philips Another Mans War, a bio- of Nigerian soldier, Isaac Fadayebo, and his Burma War. I bought it for research for my own fiction, Im sure I bought it at #AkeFestival, and its proven to be a rich mine. Mine is the appreciation of a writer for the work of a journalist whos tracked down the sources and interprested them, a task that would court prevarication on my part. Philips done, mine is re-interpretation. Theres also a students edition of Eliot on my bed, bought at #Ibadan, which Im peeking into. Eliot knew metaphor, knew line and meter. His play, Murder in the Cathedral, is one of my favourites and he is always a delight to read. If you dont have a copy of the #Africa39 anthology, go get one. Some of my most talented friends have stories in it. I wager youll enjoy them. Share your reads. I might be, maybe more than marginally, interested. :-) - Ra.
