For those interested, the Put-In-Bay Pyrate fest will be June 19th-22nd. This is a wonderfully growing festival on South Bass island off the north coast/south shore of lake Erie/Ohio. The festival is a mix of Polyester pirates and those who take pride in originality. I believe there are a few here who have attended can fill in other blanks: The Tall Ship Niagara will be in port this year and on contract to return for the festival for the next 5 years. The Niagara participates with the weekend giving tours and demonstrations and last year had a pirates only invite gathering. There is an encampment of the historically accurate. Battle reenactments. A historical market place in the center of the village of Put-In-Bay. A costume contest with significant awards for authentic display. A Buccaneers Ball. The village of Put-In-Bay makes a substantial investment to the weekend and it has become the largest event on the island. The whole event is directly on a harbor filled with boats. Rooms, Camping, Docks, bed-breakfast, resort hotels, all available. the Perry group and PIB chamber of commerce is already presenting the weekend to the public with boat show and convention center booths and displays. the island desires those that can add to the originality of the original pirating days of seafaring. pyratefest.co/
