For those looking for a way to help the victims of the typhoon in the Philippines - here is one option. A friend of mine, Lester Nelson, runs a nonprofit in the Philippines and has one family that hes accepting donations for that he personally knows. (see below for more info). You can donate through his nonprofits website: ferdinandcc.org/support-us/ Its painless and easy and takes about 3 minutes. Make sure to put in a note that says, for the Moreno Family - All donations received will go directly to helping this one family thats been affected by the typhoon. I know Les personally and can vouch for the work hes been doing in the Philippines since we graduated from high school together. Its a great way to skip the bureaucracy and get aid directly to the people in need. Heres what he said: Im accepting donations to help out one of our employees who visited his family right before the typhoon hit, and lost their house. We still have no contact with him or his family there in that town since the town was almost 100% destroyed and there are no cell towers, power, internet etc. but we heard from one of their neighbors that they survived, but their house is destroyed and theyre running out of food and water. Were buying a ticket for his sister to fly in and deliver relief goods to his family and buy whatever they can afford that is needed. Theyre a great, deserving family which Im happy to consider part of my own. (If we possibly get any donations meant for his family that come in after his sister has left and its too late to get to them, we will donate it to Habitat for Humanity)
