For those members who are following the posts in this group you may remember my topic earlier this week concerning cows. Thank you for the many calf name suggestions; please keep posting names. Those are better suggestions than I had. Ill post photos of the calves when they are born along with their name. Link to that topic: https://m.facebook/groups/160140934188143?view=permalink&id=331789390356629&ref=m_notif¬if_t=like @@@@@@@@@@@@@@ So I had promised to post something today related to the cows. Here it is. Yea! or is that Moooo! ? This weekend is: 宜野湾市産業まつり Translates to: Ginowan City Industrial Festival Industrial??!! It is not a lost in translation but perhaps a disoriented in translation type thingy. This does not refer to industries such as automobile or steel manufacturing. This event is primarily related to products that are made by companies based or people living in Ginowan City (though some are from outside Ginowan but sell items in the city) This covers a wide range of products but mostly handicrafts, clothing, and food. FOOD! Yes, FOOD! This is not as BIG event as the one in a Naha City a few months ago however it has a good variety of products and foods; --farm produce is on display along with bonsai --some plants and flowers are on sale --there is a stage for many music and dance performances --various other events during both days. There are also some goats and COWS on display; perhaps some people may have never been up-close to livestock animals so this is a good opportunity. In the comments for this topic I will post photos from this event which was held in November 2013. TODAY 10:00 to 18:00 SUNDAY 09:00 to 17:00 Please refer to this article in the current issue of Japan Update: japanupdate/2015/01/taro-potato-giant-hosts-industrial-fair/ Map Pin: Dropped Pin near Nodake, Ginowan, Okinawa Prefecture 901-2203 goo.gl/maps/0fNIZ This is a field located across from the Ginowan City Office and adjacent to the Ginowan City Fire Department along Route 330. If you know where Futenma Shrine is located (did you visit it during New Year holiday?) this event is about one kilometer south on Route 330, just past the MCAS Futenma Gate 3. The turn into the parking area is at a traffic signal immediately after a Police Koban and the GOYA motorbike shop on the right-hand side. Note: The event area is a sports field. It is grass and dirt; wearing high heel shoes is not recommended. Also, wear warm clothes since this is entirely an outdoor event even tho most of the vendors are under tents. Another note: Usually there are traffic control guards to direct cars into the parking area and to exit. Please use caution, the road is dirt/gravel and uneven with cars in many places and people walking. It is best to park in the back area (the event area is not very large). When exiting, you may be directed to a different road. Dont worry; this road actually goes down into the MCAS Futenma base and then to Gate 3 and Route 330. Turn left after the Gate to go north towards Camp Foster. ##################### Nearby to this event is a meat market and a few farmers markets and grocery stores. Use the special map that is linked in the Pinned Post for this group to locate the shops and then look at the Photo Albums for more information. In the screenshot of that map this event is located between the Nodake Police Box and the Nodake area label. (Please look at the screenshot image in the comments below). After attending this event you can also continue driving south on Route 330 to locate other markets such as Happy More, Nakagusuku Minami Farm and Marutoku Seika. Have a great weekend!
