For those new to our rescue efforts, Long Way Home Adoptables & Friends doesnt just pull animals out of shelters facing euthanasia. We generally try to help other rescues and shelters when possible. We LOVE our Pay It Forward program where we donate any food we cannot use (brands like Pedigree or Purina) to others who need it. Because we typically save animals that are seniors, facing health issues, or neglect, our kiddos are strictly on a premium food diet. So.... instead of letting it go to waste, we donate it to help even more animals. We do it about every 4-6 weeks, and we donate anywhere from 250-1000lbs at a time. We are gearing up for another HUGE giveaway... Here is an example of what we do: this is 8 year old Frenchie, Honey, showing us how well she is feeling after she completed her heartworm treatment this week. She was facing the kill list because she is a senior, was surrendered due to no longer being useful to the breeder, and had some nasty skin infections around her neck. Because of your donations, we were able to get her 100% vetted, treated for infections, rid of those nasty heartworms, and finally having a healthy coat and skin because of a premium diet.
