For those of us old enough to remember the day, its hard to believe its been 50 years since President Kennedy was assassinated. I remember the principal of our high school announcing it over the loudspeaker. I was in Spanish class, and the shock was so overwhelming that many of us girls burst into tears. School was closed early and my friends and I stood around on the sidewalk, crying and trying to understand what this meant. When I got home, the television was on. It would remain on almost constantly for days, the only way to feel connected to the rest of the country, the only way to share the horror and the sorrow that consumed so many of us. How many times since that day have we asked what if?
