For those of us who are somewhat confused about Humane Societies -- here is a news report on one in the US: Where did the $509 Million in donations go? Humane Society of the United States Investigated Watch the report on the alleged false advertising perpetuated by the HSUS, and learn where your hard earned money can really make the biggest difference! Y-tube: https://youtube/watch?v=X7tzUBBP9Ps Why NOT to donate to the HSUS We’ve all seen the commercials from the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS). The sad faced dogs and cats in cages begging for our help to save their lives. What person wouldn’t immediately feel sorry for their plight and want to help with a few dollars? That’s all it takes right? Just a few dollars a year from each of us and we can save the millions of animals suffering in the rescue shelters across the country. So you write that check and send it off in the mail. You feel good about yourself. You’ve done your good deed for the week. You tell your friends and family how you’ve become a HSUS Humane Hero fighting the good fight for the helpless, and voiceless animals. Congratulations! You could have just become a victim of the Humane Society of the United States’ alleged deceptive advertising and fundraising, as warned by Nebraska’s Governor, Dave Heineman. ABC’s affiliate news station rtv6, TheIndyChannel, has done some digging and uncovered the sad truth behind all those well-meaning donations. The reality is that the only thing your local Humane Society has in common with the Humane Society of the United States is their name. Anybody can call themselves a “humane society”, and it is that misconception that has allowed the HSUS to amass hundreds of millions in donations only to use less than 1% on actually helping local animal shelters.
