For those of you attending the protest TODAY, please read this post in its entirety as it contains important information. Thank you! By standing with us TODAY, you’ll be standing up for dogs like Eddie, who was born at OAS, along with 2 other puppies. Instead of being placed into an adoptive home, Eddie has lived in this crate, in an unheated warehouse, for 2 years. Instead of knowing what it’s like to be a cherished family member, Eddie is literally warehoused under miserable conditions. OAS Protestors, due to the wonderful response we’ve received, we’ll now be marching, signs and banners in hand, from Tilicum Park to the Elks Lodge, with a police escort. KOMO 4 News and the Peninsula Daily News will be in attendance. Please read the info below carefully: • Meet: Tilicum Park in Forks, promptly at 4:00 p.m. https://plus.google/116204051313237522856/about?gl=US&hl=en-US We will introduce the event organizers, re-iterate our message, explain rules of conduct, and give you flyers to distribute. Directions: Driving south into town on Hwy 101, cross over the Calawah River. Watch on your left for the Tilicum Park entrance, which is marked with a sign and an old railroad engine. If you drive to the blinking street light, you’ve gone too far. • Parking: Park in the Tilicum Park lot. If that’s full, park on the forest service road, or on the nearby side streets. Please observe signage and respect the neighbors. • Pack It In: Because we will not be with our cars, bring anything you may need for the evening in a backpack or bag: water, food, flashlight or headlamp, rain gear, layers of clothing, hats, gloves, umbrella. There’s a slight chance of rain. • Signs: We will have some signs for you to carry if you are not able to bring your own. • March: Once we’re assembled, we’ll march from the park to the lodge, with a police escort. It’s a 10-15 minute march, and it will be dark, hence the flashlights. • Leave Pets at Home: We will not be with our vehicles for the majority of the event. • Ferries: If you’re taking one, please double-check the schedule and allow plenty of time to arrive by 4 p.m. • Event End: The Town Hall Meeting ends at 8:30. We will walk and/or carpool back to our vehicles. Forks Police Department will ensure our safety. Other information: We’ll be assembled outside the lodge, and weather permitting, will be running a slide show of the OAS dogs and their living conditions. Laura Mundy will be speaking in front of the Forks and Clallam County panel members once the dinner portion of the evening is finished. If you have questions, please email us a protestoas2013@gmail If you cannot join us, you can still stand up for the dogs at OAS by changing your Facebook profile photo to match our Protest OAS profile photo.
