For those of you concerned about the amount of water wasted, in the ice bucket challenge: I googled how many people have accepted the challenge and found that 1.2 million people have posted videos on Facebook containing ice bucket challenges. Assuming that is the vast majority of the occurrences and that the average bucket is a little less than 5 gallons that would put it just shy of 6 million gallons. That is about 18 acre feet. To put it in perspective, according to the USGS website that would be the annual water usage of approximately 180 Americans. I am not saying that is a lot or a little just running some decent numbers because I have nothing better to do at the fire house at 11 at night.
