For those of you friends and family who have intentions of giving - TopicsExpress

For those of you friends and family who have intentions of giving presents to my children, I must clue you in on Jays latest LOVE. Hes been fussing lately about his underwear. Now dear old mom, AKA me, having never been male, therefore never having to deal with the comfort issues of underwear and the male, ahem, package, had no idea of the male issue of being bunched up. I just bought underwear for him that looked like theyd be comfortable and would last a while. However, since Jay has gotten older, the fit of what Ive been purchasing has ceased to meet the need. Now, all my life Ive heard the jokes and comments about black males being more blessed in this category of their anatomy, so I approached a few mothers of boys of color to ask if there were specific brands or types of underwear special made for this issue. They, of course, laughed at me. Despite their humor at my problem, I continued to have an uncomfortable child that needed me to find a way to make him comfortable. I have been on a search, a mission if you will, to remedy this situation. I have opened package after package (much to the store workers dismay), stretched, tugged, and eyeballed the crotch of MANY pairs of underwear in this endeavor. I must have appeared to be some freak to a few, cause the looks theyve given have not all been kind, but I found THE ones! Old Navy has the BEST ones, the ones Ive searched for, the ones that Ive dreamed of finding! I know that THESE are the golden egg, the prized possession, the creme de la creme, because my Jay has cherished and loved the two pair I purchased, so well (plus I got them at 30% off, GO ME!)! In fact, in the week since I brought them home, he has not spent a moment without them, changing from the blue striped ones to the red, then back to the blue, then, well, you get it. I just wish our laundry routine could keep up. Ugh. Lord, let him learn the importance on not only COMFORTABLE undies, but CLEAN ones as well. Preteen boys...youve gotta love them.
