For those of you not on my friends list, thought you folks would appreciate this. :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hello Planet Earth. Its me again. Your Capn-in-Chief. We are going to talk about something serious today. I recall not long ago, when the suicide of Robin Williams rocked the world. We were shaken by how so delightful and jovial a man, could choose to end his suffering. Many of us were filled with deep sadness and compassion. It brought to the headlines, a grim reality that stalks our shadows. This December, a group of people from #thelinesproject are endeavoring to make sure we never forget that shadow, or those who dwell within it. I was asked to spread the lines, and as you can see here both Minnie and I are doing our part. The colors all represent different issues people face, and the people who face them. Ive chosen Black, to remember those weve lost to suicide. Red, to show my support for those battling self harm, purple to support the LGBT community, blue for those who fight depression, orange for those pursued by anxiety, and green to support the bullied and oppressed. While the colors have a meaning, they arent what matters. For a week this December we want to make sure those sitting out there in the dark know they arent sitting alone. To let them know they are loved, simply because they are here. The very brave show their colors on their left wrist, meaning they themselves have faced these afflictions. The less so, yet still noble, such as myself show ours on our right, by way of support. I could write you a book on this subject, so instead Ill quit while Im ahead leaving you with these things. If you are happy, if you are kind, if you are strong, be a Lantern in the dark. Show our broken that there is a home for them here and they wont be forgotten. And if you are among them. The sad. The hurt, the downtrodden then please remember this I love you. You are not alone I cant promise that life will get better, but I can promise there is only one way to find out. And if you stick around, Ill be right there beside you. #spreadthelinesspreadthelove
