For those of you that know what the Drake Equation attempts to predict (advanced sentient alien civilizations, at least some of which statitically must have arisin prior to humans becoming sentient), and those of you that know what a von Neuman machine is (self replicating machines), in view of this finding (most stars in the Milky Way galaxy host planets, many of which reside in the habitable zone - ie are likely to have liquid water on their surfaces), answer me this . . . Why dont we see the machines? One writer has suggested the simplest answer to me. Perhaps they are us.
