For those of you who are more performance oriented, check this video out. What is critical to understand here is that it is the timing of the muscles firing that makes athletes strong AND durable (able to train for long periods of time without getting hurt). To clarify, athletes dont get better at timing through sparring, scrimmaging, etc., they get it through drilling. This is the case in any coached, organized and, most importantly, mature sport, drilling is the part of practice where you get better, where you make a change. Scrimmaging is where you integrate. Two different training stimuli at two different parts of the practice. Specifically about your back, you fix your back in the warm-up and the drills section of your practice. You test your back, in the workout section of your practice. Testing is not fixing and fixing is not testing.
