For those of you who didnt know that I thought myself how to be a dancer. Oh yes, I did. Here is the shocker now. I use to do dancehall very well with a community group and went to dancehall sessions. I am still young but I grew up on Tiger songs https://youtube/watch?v=qxS_K7WIBQw and Papa San https://youtube/watch?v=iVxymRzj9xU and many others. Those days I swet my stuff. However, the time was changing and I wanted more. I was athletic and wanted a Bolt experience then but that didnt happen so I kept building myself. Just like the R&B singers and so on whose journey had some church affiiliation. I ventured in the church singing and lead singing on the junior choir and was loving it, until I saw more of the girls twirling and stretching. Immediately, smething had prompt my anxious yearning and from there I decided to tryout and from there the rest is history. Being in church and doing litergical expression was not challenging anymore and so I went on to explore the theatrical side of Jamaica. Ashe, JMTC, Father HoLung were my early years of performing arts experience which became very valuable knowledge of the arts to keep. Many had said then that I was destiny for fame! I was the making of a star! Thats what they were saying then. I dont burn my bridges behind me but some persons became my motivating factor until that very day doing a afo-modern at Edna Manley- School of Dance. It was a sunny afternoon a class fill with DIVAS at the time. Thats what I called them ten, because they were years ahead and packed with many experiences and now still dancing on stage. While kicking up a storm and sweating heavily and losing breath in an intense master class with little experience. The class stopped for a brief min or so only to hear these words which immediately changed my perception on whether you have raw talent or not. You have the gift of dance. You have the heart and spirit of a dancer. At first looked around and being direct as she is. She said, Is you a talking young man. Mi head swell. Mi float to the moon and back. The church had said to me, you have the anointing of David to dance. But when you cross over and her such powerful words from a great one herself you know she must had seen something in you to declare such prolific words of birthing a youth into purpose. It was just an honour. I speak of no other woman of the dance but Dr. LAntoinette Stines way back in 2002-2003. Thanks you for your words of purpose. Big up miss stines.
