For those of you who dont chat with me regularly, my tuba has been struggling with a disability ever since it was fabricated. The tuba was made back in the 90s as a prototype demonstration instrument that traveled the many instrument conventions. It was one of four hand picked by David Winer. As a result of the rushed fabrication, the horn has slide alignment problems, tube length issues, and sadly problems with the valve cap threading. Rather than trading the horn in, Ive invested hundreds to fix the issues, and make it custom. I now have come to a crossroads in this journey. Should I keep investing in repairs of my tuba (which possibly will be over a thousand), or should I trade it in for a bigger, sliver plated model and pay the difference?
