For those of you who followed the events of Tuesday evening unfold with Andrea and I, and the abandoned cat, and have concerns over using ACCT Philly Animal Transports for situations like that one, I thought Id share a few things: 1. Adoption into a forever home is ideal. Home fostering for adoption is beautiful. Sometimes these are impossible, even in an emergency. 2. If you cant foster or temporarily overnight an abandoned or stray animal, ACCT is likely the best choice. If you go there you can see they care, and do the best they can with laughably scant resources. They may not be perfect, but they do successfully save lives. Doing nothing does not. 3. ACCT sources PAWS (Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society) and other shelters. PAWS does not take-in drop-offs from the public, even if you ask nicely. 4. Feel bad about not being able to adopt, foster, or temporarily overnight an abandoned or stray animal? (Me too.) Throw a couple bucks at ACCT (if you havent already). I just made an Honor Roll donation in memory of Toofeets and Vinnie. https://acctphilly.org/how-to-help/donate/ (Thats what a tiny profit from the sale of a Coachella ticket is for, after all. Right?) 5. Please remember, ACCT and other responsible shelters arent the reasons abandoned and stray animals suffer and die. Cruel, thoughtless, stupid people are. 6. If ACCT is still not for you, check-out Womens Humane Society, Americas first animal shelter, right in our very own Bensalem, PA. womenshumanesociety.org/lost-and-found
