For those of you who have already listened to my last podcast, Police Deaths and the Demonstrators, one of the fears I expressed may be coming true. Police action in NY has declined and in some cases practically stopped. NYPD traffic tickets and summonses for low level offenses have dropped a whopping 94%! Tickets are a big source of revenue for the city. Arrests have declined 66%. Drug arrests specifically have declined 86%. I dont have any data on response to calls from minority communities but since the PBA has warned officers that their safety is priority one and they should only make arrests when absolutely necessary, I imagine my fear there will be borne out. connectpal/judgealex
