For those of you who have been to my home, you know that I have a working wire recorder. Back in the 30s, 40s, and into the 50s if you wanted to record sound, you did it on wire, not tape. Although wire has a long life it is persnickety when trying to handle a stainless steel wire no thicker than a hair. Still, it worked and some of those old machines and recordings are still around.
