For those of you who havent heard, the Reverend Richard Sutton has unexpectedly gone on to be with the Lord. Reverend Sutton served as the pastor of Bethel AME Church for a number of years and recently celebrated his pastoral anniversary. His service to the people of Bethel and the city of Malvern is hard to measure and impossible to replace. Pastor Sutton loved the Lord and loved people. He exemplified the qualities of a gentleman and a spiritual leader who appealed to the best parts of us and encouraged everyone he met to connect with the Lord personally. His loss is an even more poignant contrast to the time we live in. At a time when so many folks are spending so much time sowing bitterness, anger and distrust, Pastor Sutton preached and lived out I John 4.21, “the one who loves God should love his brother also.” Please pray for the people at Bethel as they grieve the loss of their pastor. Please pray for Pastor Sutton’s family as they grieve his sudden loss. Please remember and be encouraged that the Lord gives us men like the Reverend Richard Sutton.
