For those of you who hide behind proxy servers and think that you - TopicsExpress

For those of you who hide behind proxy servers and think that you are anonymous on the internet, consider this... It is my opinion that a lot of those internet safehouses are run by the government. Its common sense. Why wouldnt they do it? Not everyone who tries to hide their online identity is up to no good, but a lot of people are. If you dont think the government is running and heavily promoting sites like this then God help you. I dont try to hide much online. I use my real name. I have a free GMail account. I dont take any of those extra precautions. I do try to use a little common sense and keep myself away from those who would steal credit card numbers and stuff like that. But in the end I just figure that whatever is going to happen, is going to happen. Again, for anyone who is so paranoid that they think they need layers upon layers to hide their identity, but doesnt consider the possibility that the federal government is already several steps ahead of them...what are they thinking? There is no such thing as privacy on the internet. If you do some research you will find that many, or maybe even most, proxy sites are run by hackers. But I would bet my bottom dollar that some of them are government paid hackers. I have a commenter on D.C. Clothesline (our website) that everyone despises. I took 5 minutes one day and figured out where he lives... Just in case he ever causes real problems... I am a total hack which is not the same as a hacker. I can barely walk and chew gum at the same time but I could figure out where this guy lived. You can fool me with technology to mask who you are. But if you think you can hide yourself from our government then Id have to respectfully disagree. For your sake I you are right.
