For those of you who know how much I dislike pumping gas at gas - TopicsExpress

For those of you who know how much I dislike pumping gas at gas stations, Id like to tell you about yet another experience I had when I went to get gas today. Ever since I moved here, Ive been apprehensive every time I get gas simply because I never liked getting gas in the first place and now I have to get it in a place where I am not fully aware of my surroundings. So, just like I did at home, I imprinted on one specific gas station and have gotten gas there every time I have needed it. Today, I decided I had let my tank run down low enough that I should probably get gas. One side of this gas station is facing the main road, so I always get gas on that side because more people could see me if something bad happened while I was there (you could say Im a little paranoid about gas stations). As I pulled around to the front of the gas station, this man that had been talking on his cell phone and without looking, had stepped out right in front of my car. I slammed on my breaks and he saw me just in time to jump out of the way. Yes, I squealed a little bit. But naturally I pulled in front of his car to the gas pump and began pumping my gas without thinking too much about it. He was with another man who he had handed his phone off to. I made eye contact with the man and regretfully apologized for almost hitting him. He smiled and said something along the lines of Its okay. Because of the way he smiled at me, I decided to mind my own business, stare at my gas pump, and ever so innocently finish pumping my gas. My tank had finally filled up. I grabbed my receipt and walked around the front of my car. When I looked up there were THREE men standing right behind my car, smiling. Whered the third one come from? I have no idea. The one I had almost hit smiled and waved. I waved back and simply said, Bye. The shorter one smiled, looked at my license plate (I still have an Ohio license plate) and asked me what city I am from. Not wanting to answer, I answered with, Well, Im from Ohio. Somehow satisfied with my answer, they all muttered in awe to themselves about how far away I was. I came to the conclusion that this was probably a good time to get in my car before they decided to do anything irrational. I bent down to get in my car with my head turned so that I could still see them when I heard one of the men say something. Taking it with caution, I turned back around and said, Im sorry, what? He smiled, raised his drink and said, My sister lives there. I sighed a sigh of relief, waved goodbye, got in my car and drove off as those three men watched my car drive away. It was in that moment that I was once again reminded of how much I absolutely loathe gas stations. I think its safe to say that I will never return to that gas station ever again. That, my friends, concludes my most recent gas station adventure. :)
