For those of you who might remember: this furbaby was found last - TopicsExpress

For those of you who might remember: this furbaby was found last Monday evening wet and wandering in Mooresville. Below is a letter from the family that had the honor of fostering this sweet, sweet angel. Please take the time to read this and you will understand why fostering is so important. Please, Please consider fostering for the Humane Society. Just a short week ago, I received a call from Carol who was at the Humane Society putting in her volunteer day when someone walked in with a West Highland terrier looking for a new home. Even though we have fostered other brands of dogs in the past, our door was always open to virtually any Westie. Carols call was filled with kindness for the pup so off went Bill with dog crate in hand and a fresh blanket to keep it comfortable. What a pathetic little person I found in Carols arms with those big dark eyes looking up for anyone to take her home and give her much needed love and affection. Her name was Molly and off we went to our home which turned out to be her last home. From where she came we never did know but some passerby found her in a road side ditch in the rain and took her in at least for the night and on to the Humane Society that Monday. Almost immediately she took over the house and found a routine for kind of walking around the house for hours and hours and panting more and more the longer she was doing laps. We suspected that she had a hearing problem and probably a sight issue which was confirmed by her visit to the local vet. We were sad to hear of the number of health issues she had, even more serious than we initially believed. Yet, she became a member of our family and found a big back yard to wonder around in with two super brothers always watching over her and keeping her safe. As our week progressed, Molly truly became not only a friend to Brinkley and Luke but a member of our family contributing each day to make our routine no longer just another day but one filled with her walking around and around in the house and finding those special places to lie down and sleep knowing no one was going to hurt her. As with Brinkley and Luke, snacks became a big treat for Molly who, unlike our dogs, was so gentle at taking the treat out of our hands. Realizing she was not the most stable on her feet, we visited Pet Smart for a bright pink harness and collar and her long pink leash trailing along behind her so we could catch up to her in the event we need to help her but, with her problems in the rear legs and the limited vision, speed was not one of her exciting things to keep Grandma and Grandpa running after her. Even in the yard, we were amazed at how protective the other dogs were as she made her rounds from one end of the yard to the other. The final medical results from the vet plus the input from the Human Society Director concluded that she was in pain 24/7 and to keep her alive would not be in her best interests. So, on this past Friday morning, Dr. Tillman arrived and with his tender and loving care, put our Molly to sleep while being held in Carols loving arms. We had known Molly for only a few short days but brought her into our home and family as if we had known her for so many years. We will miss you Molly and we bid Farewell to Our Little Friend knowing you are free of pain and prancing around somewhere like Westies are born to do with your ears up hearing all of the sounds of nature and seeing the many beautiful sights God has placed in this world. You will always be a part of our family with a special plot in our yard near Carols office and in our hearts. Farewell little friend, Carol, Brinkley, Luke and Bill.
