For those praying for my nephew and his fiancé, a big Thank You and please read on: By Brian Kilmer - Yesterday Hello everyone, It has been just over a month since Joel and Hannahs accident. Originally, Hannah was expected to have two weeks remaining in the hospital. Instead, she has been home for just over two weeks. In those two weeks we have seen more improvement. Before I get into the details about what Hannah has been doing over the last two weeks and what she will be doing as the weeks move on medically, I wanted to relate some exciting news. Joel and Hannah are getting married tomorrow, January 5th. Thats right. We will be having a small, family ceremony and meal afterward. Please pray for them as they begin their life as a married couple together. This isnt the way they drew it up, but are just as excited for this day as they were for one they did plan. They have received a free room at the Best Western in Ames for Tuesday evening, thanks to the Burgason clan. This hotel has a chair for that lowers into the water for those in wheelchairs. Hannahs really looking forward to that, since she has been laying or sitting on her butt for almost five weeks. Okay, now for the medical stuff. On Christmas Eve day,Hannah had an appointment with Iowa Ortho in DSM. This was to check on the progress of her clavicle and pelvis. They gave her a good report and removed all of her staples and stitches. Hannah will have follow up appointment on the14th. Assuming everything stays on track, she will be able to begin physical therapy to learn to walk again. Last Tuesday, the 30th, Hannah had her first Occupational and Speech therapy sessions. They were evaluations and she will have two sessions per week going forward. The therapists will use the results of these evaluations to put together a plan for her. So going forward, Hannah will continue to live out her Grandpa Jim’s, Janet’s Dad. We will be moving back home in order to move into the background, as Joel assumes the leadership role for their new family. Of course, we will be at the ready to assist in any way and will still be a part of Hannah’s healing, but Joel is ready to “drive the bus”, so to speak. It’s been a blessing to be able to witness his care for Hannah the last few weeks and become confident in his ability to care for our daughter. Again, we thank you so much for all of the support. This includes meeting our physical, emotional and spiritual needs. We are truly loved. Love you all, Brian
