For those that didnt know this, there is a documentary on this MS EVERS BOYS HEARTBREAKING MS BREN!!! For forty years between 1932 and 1972, the U.S. Public Health Service (PHS) conducted a vicious experiment on 399 black men with syphilis. The men, principally illiterate sharecroppers from Macon County, Alabama, participated in the study for what they thought was free medical care, meals, and free burial insurance. They were never told they had syphilis, nor were they ever treated for it. The doctors had no intention of curing them of syphilis. The researchers willfully and knowingly withheld treatment from the patients, even after the 1940s validation of penicillin as an effective cure for the disease!
