For those that dont know, I have an older sister, whom I love to death. She has so many incredible qualities about her worth highlighting, but incredibly low on my list is that shes a lesbian. Why, you might wonder? Well, to put it in a hypothetical perspective, when I think about my funeral one day (and do), chances are something along the lines of quixotic, journalist, and dreamer might (hopefully) be mentioned in the eulogy; I doubt the term straight will ever be said, though. Which is exactly my point. The same principle applies to so many others, therefore want to focus on this: a person should be recognized for who they REALLY are, and what they actually DO and ACHIEVE in this life; NEVER on simplistic and inherent realities that begin from the moment of their birth. Its offensive to the human spirit, greater achievements and says that some people are defined from the moment theyre a baby. If youre youre more like myself, would you ever want to be defined this way? Just my two cents.
