For those who are confused about the Catholic religion, remember that defining terminology is very important when in conversation with anyone. When a born again blood bought believer says they are saved by grace, they are speaking about "unmerited favor", a gift extended to us from God, that costs us nothing, but to trust Christ. Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. " When a Catholic says they are saved by grace they mean that they get more special graces for every good work and if they have enough graces from works they might make it into heaven. In other words grace is not unmerited favor for the Catholic, they have to work for their grace. And, they never know for sure if they are saved and going to heaven. John 14:17 "the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you." John 17:3 "And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent." 1 John 5:13 "These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God." If someone is not sure of their salvation, then they will need to go to God and ask Him if they are. No person can tell another person they are born again, but God can reveal everything in our heart that we may be clear whether or not we have recieved the Holy Spirit of Christ.
