For those who are new to Central California Pets Alive, this page exists to educate and advocate for saving every homeless pet in Central California, starting with a focus on Stockton, by implementing the No Kill Equation. The No Kill Equation is a set of programs that, when fully and comprehensively implemented, enables hundreds of communities to save every healthy and treatable animal. Since beginning this advocacy, weve realized we need to add transparency and accountability as goals. Stockton does not make its statistics available to the public and is not transparent or accountable for following the law, using resources wisely, and saving lives. Of the programs listed below, those that are in place in Stockton are underdeveloped, and as we have seen in the past, may be discontinued at any time. In the three years weve been advocating for reform, weve seen progress and backsliding. Progress comes with external pressure--especially media coverage and the lawsuit--and backsliding comes when Stockton feels the pressure is off. For sustainable, trustworthy progress and lifesaving, Stockton needs new leadership that is committed to saving every healthy and treatable animal.
