For those who dont already know, Im going to be living even more frugally than usual for the next few years, as Im saving pennies in the hope of fulfilling a long-held dream...and going to visit New York! :) :) :) Im hoping to go for my 40th birthday (in October 2017), so I can celebrate there, and see the Halloween Parade and have a really good explore of the city during the Fall. Im also planning to pay homage to the Marx Brothers with a visit to their (old) East 93rd Street home...visit the Interference Archive (interferencearchive.org/).... and News from Nowhere equivalent: Bluestockings (bluestockings/) and other radical bookshops (animalnewyork/…/the-radical-bookstores-of-new-y…/) .... the American Folk Art museum (folkartmuseum.org/).... the Society of Illustrators (societyillustrators.org/)..... La Casa Azul Bookshop (lacasaazulbookstore/) and much more. (If anyone has been to NY, and has recommendations - particularly of interesting literary places to see, do let me know...) I also now feel I am completely justified in singing I Want to Be in America at every available opportunity, (and will be somewhat disappointed if George Chakiris and Rita Moreno look-alikes are not to be found performing remarkable dance moves on Upper West Side tenement roof-tops.)
